Want, want, want

I absolutely adore this dress by Kimenna.

With such cute clothes at my fingertips, my New Year's Resolution is going to be extremely difficult to follow this coming year. I decided I better make the resolution's rules clear.

As stated in my earlier blog post, I'm not going to buy myself any needless clothing and accessories in 2009. A few exceptions are:

1. Gift Cards or store credit (I may buy whatever I want with them)
2. If I run out of socks or undies, I'm going to buy new ones
3. If I get pregnant, gain or lose an excessive amount of weight and look ridiculous in my current attire, I may need to update my wardrobe

That's it.

Angie & Joe

So, I won't pretend to be a master photographer. I don't even have a fancy digital SLR camera. BUT, I do enjoy photography and taking shots of my friends! I had a lot of fun with Angie and Joe this morning. It was snowing pretty hard, so, we had to come up with an indoor location quickly - Edinborough Park is what we decided on. Unfortunately, the prettiest part of it was off limits to photographers, so we made due with what we had. I ended up liking the snowy outdoor shots the best - even if we were in a hurry to get to warmth! Thanks for being such a good sport, guys! Congratulations on your engagement!

The Peace that surpasses all Understanding

Zina Baluczynski, 1915 - 2008

It's been a little over a week since my Grandmother passed away (she was 93!). Her spirit left peacefully as my mother was reading Psalm 23 to her. We're really going to miss her, she was such a neat lady. The memorial service, celebrating her life, was last weekend.

Psalm 23 was one of her favorite passages from the Bible. I came across an old "end of the year" or "christmas" letter from 2003. My Aunt had sent it out, but written it from Babcia's viewpoint. In the letter, towards the end, she had written something like "whenever I'm weary, Amber reads the 23rd Psalm to me." How perfect that those were the last words she heard. And now she is with her Savior.

If you'd like to read her biography (she has an amazing story), you can find on my Aunt's blog here. I was priviledged to call her my Babcia.

Staying Warm

It's gotten chillier over the past week or so and we've gotten a decent amount of snow too! I'm sporting my new hat handmade by Urbanestics. I purchased it for only $10 at the Urbanestics Underground art/craft sale over Thanksgiving weekend. I'm loving it! You can check out her other "keep you warm" items online at her etsy store or read about what's new in her blog.

New Year's Resolution

So, I might be posting this a bit early, but, I'm making a new year's resolution today. After organizing and cleaning our apartment today, I've decided I have enough "stuff." I feel like I've accumulated quite a bit of stuff over the past few years and find it hard to let go of most of it. Clothes, mainly...but other things as well.

So, I've decided that in the year 2009, I'm not going to buy myself any clothes, shoes, or needless accessories. I have more than enough. Now, most of you reading this right now are probably thinking "yeah right! Maren go without buying clothes for a WHOLE YEAR?! That's a hoot!" But, really, I'm going to do it. AND you're going to help me! If you make me go to the mall with you, you better make sure I don't walk out with anything. And no complaints if I say "no" to going shopping with you. I'm a terrible window shopper. But who knows - maybe I'll become a great window shopper. I need to learn to be content with what I have. Because I am truly blessed.

Anyway, my other two resolutions are to spend more time with God and my Bible, and to start exercising on a regular basis (who's isnt?).

Anyway, if you're the praying type, please pray for me to have discipline and that God would teach me something new through this upcoming year! If you're not the praying type, at least wish me good luck!

xoxo

Urbanestics Underground

A few snapshots from the event. Heads Twogether had some decent sales considering this was an "underground" event. It was a lot of fun and a great experience! Photos taken by Urbanestics
